September 20-Post 4

The first picture shows where Education City holds their outdoor graduation ceremonies. The second picture is a view of Georgetown's international politics building. It was build by a architect firm from Mexico. The third picture down is another view of the pool facility in compound that houses professors. The last picture shows what the Education City facility looks like lit up at night.

I tried out for the A&M basketball team here. There are 16 of us-4 which are Americans. The Qatari students on the team have not played basketball for too long, and so they aren't as talented at basketball as they are in sports like soccer. The neat thing is that we will get to play other basketball teams from Education City, and we may even get to travel to surrounding countries to play in a tournament or two.

We have a school holiday coming up to celebrate the ending of Ramadan. Therefore, I am traveling with about 8 other graduate students to Jordan and Israel for 7 days. We will stay in hostels, scuba dive, go to the Dead Sea, and take tours of the surrounding area. It should be a lot of fun.

September 20-Post 2

The first picture shows me at the back of the A&M facility. The picture of the Porsche belongs to one of the Qatari students. The third picture is of me in a compound where they house all of the professors. It is pretty nice. The last picture shows the pool inside the professor compound. As you can see, it looks like a resort. Trevor, a fellow graduate student from A&M is on the right.

Update

The first photo is a picture of 1 of the 4 courtyards inside the A&M buiding. The second picture shows the Sheraton Hotel. The third picture is of a building downtown. If you look closely you can see a spherical ball crunched in between the building near the top. The next picture shows the Persian "Maroon" tile they used for the hallways of A&M. The last picture shows some artistic pillars inside the A&M building.

Doha

The top picture is of a living room set up that would be found in a house in Qatar. This was at an art museum. The picture below this is of an outdoor restaurant in a marketplace in Doha. It is a nice restaurant that has seeting on three levels. Below this is an outdoor market place with vendor shops. All three of these photos are in a line shops at an outdoor market call Souq Waqif. The fourth picture is a picture of the A&M building from the couryard view. The last picture is of a mall called the Valagio Mall. They have an indoor river with boats that float the waters offering people rides. It is a normal mall with shops and restaurants like you would find in Dallas or Houston. It has Foot Locker, Gap, Macaroni Grill, Haagen Dazs ice cream, Baskin Robins ice cream, Puma, Lacoste, and a lot of other shops.
