Here are Bedouin tribal ruins where people lived and still live in Petra Jordan. There are about 65 families who still live in this type of home.

We are walking through a huge valley floor where a river used to flow in Petra. In fact, several tourists died 20 years ago in a flash flood before the Jordanian government blocked off all the incoming waterways.
I am swimming in the Dead Sea. You really do float because of the high salt content. I took a picture reading a newspaper for effect. (I really wasn't reading) I got salt in my eyes and it burned for 10 minutes. It felt like I had acid in my eyes. It is 8 times saltier than the ocean.
Here is a resort on the Dead Sea where we paid $15 to swim. They had pool and shower facilities to wash the salt from the Dead Sea off your body.

Here is the place along the Jordan River where Jesus took off his robe and was baptized by John. The Jordan River no longer runs exactly through this area. The river now runs 100 yards away from this spot.

Here is a picture of the nicest restaurant we ate at in Jordan. It is a Lebanese house that served lamb, pita bread, all sorts of vegetables, chicken, etc. It cost about $25 or 20 Jordanian Dinar.
Here is a picture of me "mudded" up at the Dead Sea. There were guys who put this "mud" on you for $5. You leave it on your skin for 15 miinutes and then wash it off. It leaves your skin feeling soft. (and probably full of diseases)
This is a picture of Trevor, me, and Cole. Trevor is a petroleum engineer student with me and Cole is working on his PhD in electrical engineering. Trevor got a lot of attention from girls on the trip because they all said he looked like Matthew McConaughey.
This is a picture looking up from a cave onto Roman pillars built in Amman back during Roman rule.
He is a surface view of the same pillars seen in the picture from the cave above. The pillar on the far left actually rocks back and forth with the wind. You can feel it with your hand, but it is still very stable.
